Silky, Shiny Hair - my own experience

Monday Feb 9, 2009

I thought I should try myself what I recommend to others for silky and shiny hair. That is home made hair mask.

I chose the one that I read Daria Werbowy use to make her hair shinier: warm honey, egg yolk and olive oil.

I didn’t know exactly how much I should put of each ingredient but I decided that one egg yolk, about 1 tablespoon of honey (I warmed it up in microwave. Be careful though - sometimes honey tends to make scary noises if you heat it in microwave. And it doesn’t take long at all to get your honey warm), and I added about 1/2 tablespoon of olive oil.

Maybe a little bit more. So I mixed everything up, washed my hair with my normal shampoo, towel dried my hair and then applied my mask on my hair (I didn’t put any mixture to the roots though). I have long hair (not too long, but bellow my shoulders), so I just lifted all my hair up. It said that I should leave the mask for 20 minutes. Well… it started dripping after about 5 minutes, so I put cling wrap around my head (I read it actually a good idea for any mask you use for your hair) and kept it for another 5 minutes (I probably should have put a towel around my head as well, so it would stop the mixture from dripping (it still did)).

I rinsed it really well. I still could smell egg from my hair, so I washed it again with the shampoo, I applied some leave in hair conditioner to make my hair smell nice again. I think it worked well.

Verdict: yes, this mask really does work! My hair was very shiny! I was very impressed. I wonder if the rum and egg yolk mask will be even better to make my hair shiny?!

I have other beauty tips on my blog.
